Pictugraphs

BEFORE WRITTEN languages, some Native American nations recorded history with pic-tographs, which are symbols or pictures that describe an event.

Plains tribes in particular often had calendars in which they recorded the most important event of a year. The Kiowa, a Plains tribe, documented events twice a year. In the late 19th century and early 20th century. Silver Horn was the calendar keeper. His pictorials of what occurred during the summer and winter seasons provide

Coast and settled in the United States. A coastal migration would have been faster, and the ocean would have provided food along the way.

This provides yet another theory as to where the first Americans came from. Knowledge about the ice age and Monte Verde suggests that if people didn’t arrive during the period when the land bridge or the ice-free corridor was available, then people either arrived from a different place than previously thought, or people have lived in the Americas for at least 20,000 years. It could also indicate that early people in the Americas came from various geographical locations.

Within your own nation or tribe (family, class, or group of friends), decide on the five most important events of the past month. Record these events with pictographs.
