The Torks were ancient Turkics probably from a number of different tribes who in the 11th century c. e. migrated into eastern and central Europe. Their movement into Europe followed that of the fellow Turkic-speaking Pechenegs.
Some Pechenegs joined the Torks in a confederacy in Russia called chenrye Klobuki (Black Hoods). The Torks became known in the region as merchants. In 1036 people identified as Torks helped the Rus defeat the Pechenegs.
