Since its founding in 1889, the Semitic Museum has assembled and cared for collections from the ancient Mediterranean, North Africa, and West Asia and has engaged in archaeological excavations from Tunisia in the west to Iraq in the east. he museum is associated with the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations. It is a constituent of the Harvard Museums of Science and Culture, formed in 2012, within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
Storer Memorial Collection of Medical Medals of the Boston Medical Library in the Francis A. Countway Library of Medicine

Horatio Robinson Storer, a gynecologist, collected coins and medals relating to medicine. hese included portrait medals of individuals and medals related to hospitals, medical colleges, societies, nursing, pharmacy, and diseases. In 1900, Storer gave the bulk of his collection in memory of his father to the Boston Medical Library (established in 1875). Today, the Storer Memorial Collection of Medical Medals is housed with the Boston Medical Library in the Francis A. Countway Library of Medicine, which opened in 1965 at Harvard Medical School. he Countway Library also contains the Harvard Medical Library (founded in 1816) and the Warren Anatomical Museum (established in 1847). he Center for the History of Medicine oversees the rare holdings of the Boston Medical Library and Harvard Medical Library: the incunabula, historical books, manuscripts, archives, physicians’ personal libraries, paintings, prints, photographs, and medals.
